A safe place for girls to bring whatever is on their minds — and to gain strength from each other.
Our girls are entering an amazing time of life. Their minds are expanding to see the world like never before. One of the challenges of early adolescence is how to handle all this new awareness — and one of the gifts we can offer is space to process it.
At The Grove, we'll begin by fostering comfort and trust. The girls will set group parameters that help everyone feel welcome and safe. Then we'll laugh our way through getting-to-know-you games and team-building challenges. Everything is always optional — I encourage everyone to participate at the level that feels good to them.
As the girls build bonds, we'll keep up the fun while also delving into what life is really like for them. I'll bring discussion prompts and tools for supportive listening, but the conversations will be theirs. By exploring their experiences and perspectives with one another, they'll see more clearly what matters to them and who they want to be. As I step back from facilitating, the more empowering and truer their discoveries will be.
I would love to find an older teen girl to help facilitate, so I can fade from the forefront even more. I'll be reaching out to contacts at Grant — please let me know if you have any leads to pursue.
Beyond our cozy meetings, I also envision fun outings that fit the girls' interests. Perhaps a sledding day, a theater trip, or even camping in the summer.
Reach out with questions, or to let me know you're interested in this year's cohort.
